Charity Cricket Match raises funds for 2nd incubator

July 2011

On 15th July, former England fast bowler Devon Malcolm, arranged once again for a Lashings World XI to play a pro-am match against a Northants XI at Brixworth Cricket Club in Northamptonshire. Earlier in the year, Devon and Chris Timm, Chairman of Brixworth CC had asked Andrew Collier if The 3 Little Miracles would once again like to be the beneficiary charity for the event. As well as providing a wonderful cricketing event, the charity focus then became raising enough money on top of the £17,000 raised in 2010, to buy a second incubator for Northampton General Hospital.

The 2011 Lashings side included former stars from the world cricket stage including Graeme Hick, Inzaman-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, John Emburey, Henry Olonga, Ed Giddins, Devon Malcolm and Ian Harvey. Lashings won the match to level the "Lashings / Northants series" one win apiece. The highlight of the 2011 match was a 41 ball century from former England great, Graeme Hick.
The match was preceded with a sit down lunch, speeches and charity auction for 350 people. Nearly 1,000 other spectators came to watch the cricket. At the end of the day, suffificient funds were raised, couple with the money raised in 2010, to buy Northampton General Hospital their second state of the art surgical incubator. Dr Nick Barnes, consultant paediatrician at the NGH attended the event, and before his very eyes, could see a second incubator being paid for!
