- The Unit looks after about 500 babies a year amounting to about 11,000 cot days
- It costs £30,000 to buy an incubator and £120,000 to fully equip an intensive care cot space.
- The Neonatal Intensive care unit is also a regional referral unit for babies requiring surgery and takes babies from all over the south
east of England.
- At the Unit there is an active research programme to which all the consultants contribute, in addition Professor Neena Modi, a professor of neonatal medicine, is based at the unit.
